I wanted to take a moment to let my readers know about a ground-breaking book that was just released by my colleague and dear friend Kelly Brogan. A Mind of Your Own is a courageous and illuminating book that takes on the powers-that-be by challenging the status quo about the use of anti-depressants, which is estimated that 1 in 4 women are taking today.
So many of our patients that we see for pelvic pain conditions are also on a cornucopia of medications, and the multiple, overlapping side effects so often leave my patients worse off, like ships being battered against the rocks.
Dr. Brogan’s bold approach dispels the 1 pill = 1 symptom, 1 size fits all big pharma approach, and instead puts forth an approach grounded in nutrition, environmental factors, and whole body health, so that your body can heal itself.
Speaking from the front lines of pelvic pain, I highly commend this outlook that Dr. Brogan is putting out there. It seems to have struck such a chord with media outlets, who make good money from pharmaceutical commercials, such that many have black listed the book and are not giving it the coverage it deserves. Whatever your opinion might be, it is important that the book get a fair discussion.
So take a moment to check out A Mind of Your Own, and let’s work together to get the word out. She is giving away the first chapter for free as well.
Kudos to you Kelly!
